Le portfolio maternité — grossesse, naissance, famille.
A short period, a total transformation. Documenting what will not return.

Maternity photography is not just another aesthetic exercise. It is a discipline requiring a precise reading of the transforming body, a light that forgives without erasing, a gentle direction that lets emotions stand without forcing them. In Limoges, since 2008, this is the approach guiding maternity sessions at the Bénédictins studio. The belly is central — but what is photographed are also the face, hands, gaze, expectation.
Each maternity session is built as a mini-reportage. It starts with an exchange: what you want to see, what you don't, your relationship with your body, your story. From there the style emerges: clean, fine art, narrative. Shoot lasts 30 effective minutes, guided pose by pose. No image is forced.
The Bénédictins studio has both natural light (through bay windows) and continuous fill light (stable-spectrum lamps). This allows total control of rendering: soft, dramatic, timeless. Light is measured, not estimated: each image has the same exposure quality.
Retouching is artisanal. Each image destined for print is worked individually: white balance, skin tones, highlight and shadow management, retouching of passing micro-imperfections if you wish. No smoothing that erases texture. No morphology modification.
The maternity session is often the first step of a story continuing with newborn session (5–10 days after birth) and first-year sessions. Booking in advance enables continuity packs and secures critical time windows.
Between week 28 and 32 of amenorrhea. The belly is well rounded, mobility remains comfortable.
